✨ John 11:21–30 Devotional - The Resurrection and the Life
📖 Full Scripture (NIV)
21 "Lord," Martha said to Jesus, "if you had been here, my brother would not have died.
22 But I know that even now God will give you whatever you ask."
23 Jesus said to her, "Your brother will rise again."
24 Martha answered, "I know he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day."
25 Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die;
26 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?"
27 "Yes, Lord," she replied, "I believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, who is to come into the world."
28 After she had said this, she went back and called her sister Mary aside. "The Teacher is here," she said, "and is asking for you."
29 When Mary heard this, she got up quickly and went to him.
30 Now Jesus had not yet entered the village, but was still at the place where Martha had met him.

✝️ 6. Interpreting God
Jesus doesn’t just promise resurrection—He embodies it. He enters our grief and redirects our gaze from what was lost to who He is. His question, "Do you believe this?" is both an invitation and a challenge. He doesn’t avoid sorrow; He meets us in it. He doesn’t rush miracles; He allows us time to believe. He is both the Teacher and the Resurrection, present in power and compassion.
👥 7. Interpreting Humanity
In our sorrow, we often say, "If only..." like Martha. We believe in God's power, but sometimes relegate it to the distant future. Like Martha, we need our doctrine to become personal—alive. Our knowledge must become encounter. And like Mary, we sometimes wait in grief until called. Yet when He calls, our hearts know and run to Him.
🪞 8. Personal Application
Am I trusting Jesus only for eternal life later, or am I embracing Him as my resurrection life today? I want to respond to His voice without hesitation, like Mary. I will also be like Martha—faithful even in confusion, and ready to lead others to Jesus. His presence outside the village reminds me that He waits for my response, and comes near when I step out in faith.
💓 9. Spiritual Touch
“I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.” (John 11:25)
— This promise brings hope for tomorrow and strength for today.
🙌 10. Prayer of Faith, Repentance & Thanksgiving
Jesus, You are my life. Forgive me for limiting You to the past or the distant future. I believe You are present here and now, full of life and authority. Strengthen my faith, and help me lead others gently into Your presence. Thank You for calling me by name. Amen.
🌿 11. Meditate Throughout the Day
“Do you believe this?” (John 11:26)
Let this question echo in your heart all day. What does it mean for you to believe that Jesus is your resurrection and your life—right now?
